The North Star Group's North Pacific Marine Report is an electronic newsletter that was published in 2005-06. The newsletter was dedicated to factual reporting about the reauthorization of the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act and about Congressional events and actions that affected North Pacific fisheries. The monthly newsletter provided:
• Summaries of congressional
hearings
• Updates on Congressional actions related to the reauthorized Magnuson-Stevens
Act
• News related to the North Pacific seafood industry
• News related to federal fisheries management
• Information about selected fisheries bills introduced in the U.S.
Congress
As part of the public record, all of this information is now available
for free to browsers of this website. You will find past copies of the
newsletter as well as supporting documents for the events described.
With the final passage of the reauthorized Magnuson-Stevens Act in
late 2006, the North Star Group brought this project to a close. For
the text of President Bush’s statement when he signed the Act,
please see below.
